THE FRANKENSTEIN CHRONICLES 2

The new season of ITV Encore’s THE FRANKENSTEIN CHRONICLES has started filming in Northern Ireland.

The Frankenstein Chronicles is set in Georgian London in 1827 and was created by Benjamin Ross (The Young Poisoner’s Handbook) and writer Barry Langford (Torte Bluma).

The six-part drama series, produced by Rainmark Films, sees Bean return as John Marlott – no longer a mere mortal, Marlott’s purpose is to seek revenge on Lord Daniel Hervey for taking his life, and to redeem his soul after being wrongly convicted and hanged for murder. Paul Kennedy joins the cast as Inspector Treadway.

Set in 1830s London, Marlott must operate outside the law as he comes up against dark forces in high society and in the dangerous slums of the over-crowded capital. In his pursuit of Hervey, Marlott takes on the establishment in the form of Robert Peel’s newly formed Police force and the Church. In the darkest corners of Georgian London, Marlott acts as defender of the poor and destitute as he fights to clear his name and bring Hervey to justice.

The new series is written by Michael Robert Johnson, Paul Tomalin, Noel Farragher, Colin Carberry and Glenn Patterson, directed by Alex Gabassi (Psi, The Hypnotist), produced by Lawrence Till (Harlots, Mr Selfridge, Shameless) and executive produced by Tracey Scoffield (Muhammad Ali’s Greatest Fight, The Gathering Storm, Dirty Pretty Things), David Tanner (The Frankenstein Chronicles – Series 1, Muhammad Ali’s Greatest Fight – as co-producer) and Frank Doelger (Game of Thrones, Rome, John Adams, The Gathering Storm) for Rainmark Films, and Justin Thomson and Patrick Irwin (The Fall, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell) for Far Moor.

Talent behind the camera includes director of photography Joel Devlin, Costume Designer Lindsay Pugh, Hair and Make-Up Designer Pamela Smyth and Production Designer Ashleigh Jeffers.

Filming commenced  in Northern Ireland March 2017 with funding from Northern Ireland Screen.
