Jonathan Delaney Tynan

Jonathan most recently filmed a recurring role “Lord Cuthred” opposite Jonathan Rhys Meyers in Season 5 of VIKINGS created by Michael Hirst for History. VIKINGS 5 will air early in 2018 on RTÉ.

On stage, he played William in Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s THE SCHOOL FOR SCANDAL directed by Deborah Warner at the Barbican Centre, London. Other stage appearances include, his Gate Theatre debut in SPECKLED PEOPLE (as part of the Dublin Theatre Festival 2011), A WOMAN OF NO IMPORTANCE directed by Patrick Mason also at The Gate, JULIUS CAESAR and ROMEO & JULIET both directed by Jason Byrne at the Abbey Theatre, JANE EYRE (City Theatre) and Helene Hanffs’ 84 CHARING CROSS ROAD directed by Terry Byrne at Andrews Lane.

His film and television credits include William Pearse in TG4 historical documentary drama 1916: SEACHTAR NA CÁSCA, THIS IS NIGHTLIVE (RTÉ2), award-winning costume drama THE TUDORS created by Michael Hirst for Showtime, RIPPER STREET directed by Tom Shankland, Disney’s fantasy movie ELLA ENCHANTED starring Anne Hathaway and directed by Tommy O’Haver for Miramax Films, the role of Mr. Dudman in PENNY DREADFUL directed by Damon Thomas for Showtime and more recently CAN’T COPE, WON’T COPE created by Stefanie Preissner for Deadpan Pictures.

Jonathan appeared as Colonel Fitzwilliam in PRIDE & PREJUDICE directed by Alan Stanford at the Gate Theatre, Dublin. Due to its success, the show was revived for a second run at The Gate and subsequently the production was invited to perform at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, as part of the 43rd Hong Kong Arts Festival in 2015.
