Denis Quilligan

Denis was part of the original acting company at Project Arts Centre in Dublin alongside Gabriel Byrne, Jim Sheridan, Garrett Keogh and Alan Stanford.

His theatre credits include COMEDIANS and DEV (Project), ARTICLE FIVE (Dublin Theatre Festival), RED ROSES FOR ME, PURPLE DUST and THE PLOUGH AND THE STARS (NY Public Theatre), JULIUS CAESAR (Julian Theatre, USA), ENDGAME (Players Theatre), PLAY READINGS  (Soho), POOR BEAST IN THE RAIN directed by Robin Leferve for the Bush Theatre, LIFE OF WOLFE TONE (Riverside Studio), DANCING AT LUGHNASA and JUNO AND THE PAYCOCK (Royal Lyceum), THE SHADOW OF A GUNMAN (Leicester Haymarket), PHILADELPHIA HERE I COME (Kingshead), THE BIRTHDAY PARTY (Library Theatre), HOW SHE LOVES HIM (Show of Strength), TRAVEL WITH MY AUNT (Brunton Theatre). He appeared in two versions of John Millington Synge’s THE PLAYBOY OF THE WESTERN WORLD at Arches Theatre, Glasgow and the Royal Exchange, Manchester.

His screen appearances are THE PROJECTIONIST & GEORGE AND ROMANA directed by Mika Kallwass, WITCHCRAFT (BBC), MINDER (ITV), NON MAN’S LAND, FAIR CITY (RTÉ), WITH OR WITHOUT NUTS, THE LIFE OF DANIEL O’CONNELL (RTÉ), FATHER TED (Channel 4), THE BILL (ITV), CONSPIRACY OF SILENCE (Flick Features), THE KEY (BBC), THE BABY WAR (ITV), THE MAN WHO LOST IRELAND for RTÉ and was seen as Dr. Butts in six episodes of award-winning costume drama THE TUDORS for Showtime.

Further stage work includes PHILADELPHIA HERE I COME at the Gaiety Theatre, Dublin and DILERIUM – An Adaptation of Fyodor Dostoevsky’s ‘The Brothers Karamazov performed at the Peacock Theatre, as part of the Dublin Theatre Festival 2008. More recently Denis appeared in TOMMY COOPER: NOT LIKE THAT, LIKE THIS, a one-off TV drama about one of Britain’s best-loved comedians, directed by Benjamin Caron for ITV.
