Barry McEvoy

Born in Belfast, Actor/Writer Barry was based in the U.S until recently, where he worked extensively on the New York stage, in film and in television. He has worked with some of the finest directors, including Sidney Lumet – for the film GLORIA and the TV series 100 CENTER STREET. Oscar winner Barry Levinson directed him in the lead role of Colm, in AN EVERLASTING PIECE, which Barry also scripted. He appeared in Gore Verbinski’s PIRATE’S OF THE CARIBBEAN ‘DEAD MANS CHEST’,  Joel Schumacher’s VERONICA GUERIN and in Oliver Hirschbiegel’s Sundance award-winning FIVE MINUTE OF HEAVEN starring Liam Neeson with Big Fish Films.

Theatre credits include the U.S Premiere of Harold Pinter’s MOONLIGHT, at the Roundabout Theatre with Jason Robards, ON THE WATERFRONT on Broadway, the U.S National tour of THE SISTERS ROSENWEIG and STONES IN HIS POCKETS at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles. Barry went on to appear in Marie Jones’ A VERY WEIRD MANOR at the Lyric Belfast, directed by Ian McIlhinney. In Washington D.C. Barry appeared in Vaclav Havel’s MISTAKE for SCENA Theatre and ESPRIT DE CORPS in the Washington Theatre Festival, for which he won a Best Actor nomination, he was also seen early 2011 in Conor McPherson’s THE WEIR at the same venue and played Hadley in the world stage premiere of THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION at the Gaiety Theatre, Dublin.

Other television work includes CAMELOT directed by Michelle MacLaren for Starz and he can be seen playing the role of Chorley alongside Derek Jacobi in DAP’s historical series TITANIC: BLOOD & STEEL, showing on Netflix.

As a writer, Barry received a Variety Screenwriter to Watch Award, 2000.
