Maria landed her first television role in Ireland’s most popular soap opera FAIR CITY as horrid American boss Camille Barnett. Soon after, Oscar winning director Jim Sheridan wrote a role for her in his film IN AMERICA. Other screen appearances include Isabella alongside British star Martin Shaw in BBC period drama INSPECTOR GENTLY, a cameo role as Cabaret Singer Jane Grey in ITV series ROCK RIVALS, SPEED DATING (2000AD Productions) and Maria (lead role) in I HATE MUSICAL’S – THE MUSICAL with Tilted Pictures.
She also appeared in the american re-make of THE HONEYMOONERS, directed by John Shultz (Fox/MGM). In theatre, she worked with Cork-based Corcadorca Theatre Company in their highly acclaimed sell-out production of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM. Other credits include jazz cabaret show playing VIRGINIA DIVINE, JAZZ HOT, ALL ABOUT LOVE and LUSH LIFE at the Spiegeltent venue, as part of the Dublin Fringe Festival 2002, THE COUNTRY BOY (Big Telly) and ONCE UPON A CHRISTMAS (The Helix).
She starred in Cabaret shows TORCH SONG and NIGHT & THE CITY and RED, HOT, and TECCE. Maria also co-starred as Lee in the European premiere of the Canadian play VERY HEAVEN by Ann Lambert running in the Stalislavsky-based Focus Theatre in Dublin. She toured with Storytellers Theatre Company’s critically acclaimed and award-nominated DREAM OF A SUMMER’S DAY and appeared in Theatre Royal’s new production of the German one-woman cabaret show TONIGHT: LOLA BLAU. She played Emilie in Christopher Hampton’s LES LIAISONS DANGEREUSES, directed by Michael Barker-Caven at the Gate Theatre. Maria also appeared alongside Nicolette Sheridan (Desperate House Wives) in Hallmark’s rom-com TV movie HONEYMOON FOR ONE.
